We plan to try a new format for the end-of-season playoffs this year. In past years we had tournament brackets of two or three teams. This year we’ll play a round robin tournament for everyone in Shooters, Passers, Flyers, Wings, Strikers and Kickers. (Dribblers and Trappers don’t participate in the tournament.)
Here is the plan: we’ll break divisions up based on regular season record. The top four team in most divisions will play for the King of the Hill. Each team will play two games on Saturday, October 26 and one game on Sunday afternoon, October 27. The team with the best tournament record is King of the Hill, with trophies also given to the second place team. We’ll try to schedule the two Sunday games side-by-side at the same time.
Other teams will play in similar round-robin games, either in a group of four, or in a group of three, also on October 26&27. For groups of three, each team plays twice. One team will play both its games on Saturday, the other two teams will have a Saturday and a Sunday afternoon game. Only the first place team will be awarded with trophies.
Tie breaker rules will be announced at the fall end of season meeting, scheduled for October 23. We’ll also be able to provide checks to cover ref fees for the playoff games at that time.
(Thanks to coach Watson for suggesting the new round-robin format)
